The music of Georg Philipp Telemann has been at the center of Arte dei Suonatori’s interests since the beginning of the ensemble’s activity. It’s no wonder - Telemann was the most esteemed composer of the first half of the 18th century, even overshadowing the popularity of Johann Sebastian Bach. From the vast legacy of about 1000 orchestral suites, we have chosen a composition titled La Changeante, which means The Changes. This suite is written in the French style with a characteristic touch of unique humor in its approach to musically depicting the titular changes. The core of the program will be the cantata Ino. Written at the end of his life by the 84-year-old Telemann, it paints the dramatic emotions of the mythical heroine entangled in the destructive consequences of her own desires. Ino, in her journey through suffering and despair, undergoes a profound inner metamorphosis. Her desires, which initially lead her to the brink of the abyss, become the catalyst for her spiritual awakening. Telemann portrays in music the dramatic struggles of Ino, but also her gradual discovery of inner peace and harmony. This work is not only a story of pain and loss but also of hope and redemption that can be found in the darkest moments of life.
